What this tool checks
MetaTagCheck reads the raw HTML you paste and reports on the tags that determine how your page appears in search results and social feeds. It looks for the page title and checks its length, verifies the meta description (missing, too long, or too short), and confirms that a canonical link, viewport, and charset declaration are present. It also checks the Open Graph family (og:title, og:description, og:image) and the Twitter card tags that control how links unfurl on social networks.
Every finding is graded as an error, a warning, or a pass, so you can see at a glance what is missing and what is already correct. Below the report, live previews show how your page would render as a Google search result, as an X (Twitter) summary card, as an X large-image card, and as a WeChat link card. If you provide an og:image, the social previews load that image so you can judge the layout yourself.
Because everything runs in your browser, no page source is ever uploaded to a server. That makes the tool safe to use on internal pages, staging sites, and unpublished work in progress. For a more detailed rundown of the tags you should include, see the SEO meta checklist. To check the dimensions of your Open Graph image, use the OG image size checker.
